Scholarships

The scholarships in the Pharmaceutical Sciences MS Merit Awards are intended to not only alleviate the financial burden of pursuing and completing the Pharmaceutical Sciences master’s program but also increase the impact of the school’s commitment to equity. The Optimizing Opportunity Award is for high-achieving underrepresented students and ranges from $9,000-$12,000 per term. The Enabling Excellence Award is for high-achieving financially disadvantaged students and ranges from $4,500-$6,000 per term. Both scholarships will not only diversify and expand the pool of professionals seeking to work in their respective fields but will also enhance the critical work and outcomes of the industries. The scholarships are available and awarded to high achieving students who are pursuing a Pharmaceutical Sciences MS in either Applied Drug Development or Psychoactive Pharmaceutical Investigation. Wisconsin residents and non-residents are eligible and encouraged to apply. Current students must have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA from their master’s program coursework to be eligible for the scholarship. Applications must complete the online scholarship application each semester they would like to be considered. Both current and prospective students must also:
  • Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and
  • Re-apply for the Pharmaceutical Sciences MS Merit Awards for subsequent terms
Students who have not been accepted into the Pharmaceutical Sciences: Applied Drug Development or Psychoactive Pharmaceutical Sciences program must submit the full program application to the Graduate School to be eligible in addition to the scholarship application. The deadline for the Fall Semester is June 30th, and the deadline for the Spring Semester is October 31st. The award notification will be sent 4-6 weeks after the scholarship application due date. Questions regarding eligibility, deadlines, and other details should be directed to the Graduate Program Manager, Stephanie Scholze, at stephanie.scholze@wisc.edu.

About the University of Wisconsin

Since its founding in 1848, this campus has been a catalyst for the extraordinary. As a public land-grant university and major research institution, our students, staff, and faculty engage in a world-class education while solving real-world problems. With public service — or as we call it, the Wisconsin Idea — as our guiding principle, Badgers are creating a better future for everyone.

Land Acknowledgement

The University of Wisconsin–Madison occupies ancestral Ho-Chunk land, a place their nation has called Teejop (day-JOPE) since time immemorial. In an 1832 treaty, the Ho-Chunk were forced to cede this territory. Decades of ethnic cleansing followed when both the federal and state government repeatedly, but unsuccessfully, sought to forcibly remove the Ho-Chunk from Wisconsin. This history of colonization informs our shared future of collaboration and innovation. Today, UW–Madison respects the inherent sovereignty of the Ho-Chunk Nation, along with the eleven other First Nations of Wisconsin.
